"I can't believe how much I got out of my small investment. I set out to declutter our house in one go, and we did it! ...My husband kept randomly saying how less stressed out he felt thanks to so much junk being gone, and I completely agreed. Would highly recommend this guide. It was full of great tips."

Why Declutter Your House in a Weekend?

There are many different ways to approach decluttering. Some people say to do 15 minutes per day every day. Some people say to declutter by category, tackling one category at a time over the period of a few months. Some people advise going room by room. Some people swear by the “only do it when I can’t stand it for one more second” (or when guests will be visiting) approach. None of these approaches are wrong. There is value in each of them, and each of them can be effective when executed in the right way.

I created my Declutter Your House in a Weekend approach because I like instant gratification. I like knocking out a big part of a project all at once and the satisfaction of having my entire house decluttered all at the same time. I like starting with a clean slate and then simply working to maintain it from there. This approach certainly won’t be for everybody, but if you’re willing to block off an entire weekend and work hard throughout the whole process, the rewards at the end of it are great.

After my decluttering weekend, I can truly say that...

  • Our rooms felt more spacious because they were devoid of clutter.

  • I got more enjoyment out of spending time in our home because I wasn’t surrounded by clutter piles or crowded by items we didn’t even use or like.

  • All of our items had a “home” so it was easier to find what I needed and to put it away when I was finished with it.

  • Since my items were now easy to find, I freed up time in my day because I spent less time searching for things.

I now feel a sense of peace and calm when I walk into my decluttered home, rather than the sense of stress and anxiety I was feeling when there was clutter everywhere, and that is an amazing feeling!

Abby Lawson, Author of Declutter Your House in a Weekend |

Hi, I'm Abby,

and I'm just a smidge obsessed with organizing... Okay, maybe a little more than a smidge! Naturally scatterbrained, I've come to love decluttering and organizing spaces because I love the peace it brings to our home. And while our house is far from perfect, I am always searching for ways to cut the clutter and create a more serene, welcoming space for our family!

Since I love to help others declutter and get organized as well, I created my Declutter Your House in a Weekend system so that people can create the calm and uncluttered home they've been longing for.

"I loved the simplicity yet organized and detailed plan for working through the house so quickly. It really made it easy to get the things I've been meaning to do actually get done. Stuff that had piled up for recycle, or boxes to be broken down and boxes of things for donation were actually moved out of the house... I feel GREAT and HAPPY that so much was accomplished in such a short time. Goodness, I don't know why I put this off so long! Thank you so very much for the nudge to just get it done!"
